Great Range Capital Welcomes Mary Beth Brosnihan as Vice President

Mary Beth Brosnihan’s list of accomplishments is impressive. Really impressive.
In addition to earning an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MS from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BS in foreign service, international politics in foreign policy, and policy process from Georgetown University, she’s summited Mt. Kilimanjaro and climbed to Mt. Everest’s base camp.
Mary Beth’s career and interests have taken her across the globe, and–lucky for us–brought her to Great Range Capital, where her most recent achievement is completing her first two weeks as Vice President.
Meet Mary Beth Brosnihan
Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, in a family where medical careers were the norm, Mary Beth broke with tradition by aspiring to become a diplomat. But after joining a Women in Business Club while attending Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, a new interest in finance emerged. Mary Beth continued fostering that interest by joining more clubs, networking with Georgetown alumni, and interning with a private equity firm. And though finance clearly won in the end, she didn’t completely drop her international enthusiasm.
Mary Beth relocated to London for graduate school, and then her first job took her to the Middle East and South Asia. There, she served as an Analyst in the Abraaj Group, focusing on a range of sectors including consumer, business services, and healthcare services transactions. Next, Mary Beth moved to Chicago to attend business school before joining Centre Lane Partners in New York City as an Associate. And most recently, Mary Beth held a Senior Associate position at Omaha’s McCarthy Capital, where her responsibilities included evaluating new investment opportunities, structuring and executing private investments, and management oversight of portfolio investments.
Mary Beth moved to the Kansas City area a little over a year ago for her husband’s job but continued working remotely for McCarthy. However, the birth of her second child and the opportunity to deepen her roots in Kansas City nudged her to consider local options. GRC’s name kept coming up in conversation, but Mary Beth ultimately credits Darcy Howe at KCRise Fund with introducing her to Managing Partner Paul Maxwell.
As Vice President, Mary Beth says she’s looking forward to working with a team she can both learn from and add value to. “Every investor group is slightly different,” she explains. “I’m excited to learn more about Great Range Capital’s approach to long-term value creation and to work alongside highly respected people in a great culture.”
When she isn’t in the office, you can find Mary Beth spending time with her husband and two energetic young children, exploring KC’s restaurant scene, experimenting with new recipes in her own kitchen, visiting art museums, attending concerts, and dipping her toes into Chiefs football fandom. And while much of her time is focused on making Kansas City feel like home, travel is still a big part of Mary Beth’s life and she’s currently dreaming of her next big climb.
